Jeavio 2021 Graduate Retrospective

We have been successfully running our Graduate Program for a few years now. It is conscientiously and strategically designed to give young software engineers a platform to explore and hone their skills. The program has a mix of training programs designed to enhance their technical skills and help them develop various soft skills and business acumen.

Due to the Covid pandemic, the batch of 2020 had been working remotely since the start of their internship. Initially, it was a bit challenging, but it turned out to be a great learning process. We conducted a quick survey to understand their 1-year journey with Jeavio, and here is a glimpse of what they had to say:

What are the key challenges that you faced?
To be honest, in the internship, we worked a lot. And after office hours also, I have worked, and that was something challenging for me, but I have learned one thing, i.e., to try to complete everything during office hours. But I have learned many things starting from the internship to date.

Describe the current project you are working on?
The project that I am currently on is support centric and requires to provide technical support to SevOne’s Enterprise clients and their end-customers in the following domains, viz. Networking, MySQL, and Linux.

How would you describe your overall journey with Jeavio so far?
The first day at Jeavio was very motivating and helpful, as I got to know many key concepts on having a productive working style. Almost all the things I got to know were completely new for me as they gave me a different perspective altogether on how to prepare our mindset.
Nimesh sir’s advice and the way he interacted with all the interns gave us a boost on the very first day.
When I first got to know the project that Jeavio was associated with, i.e., SevOne for the Support on the Network Monitoring and the Data Insight and other similar tools, I was very excited to learn these new technologies and the tools by implementing some of the basics of Linux, networking and database knowledge.
Slowly and gradually I got to know things in a better manner as I was progressing on my way during the training period, got to know the bits and pieces of the basic issues which the customers face and the probable solutions. After 5 months of the training period, I was then going to face my first ever live support case and was going to interact with the customers, which made me pretty nervous and excited as well.
The teammates are very supportive. As I am a fresher and completely unaware of some things, so whenever there is a need, I can ask any type of doubts, even if they are silly, and would get a response from the team, in turn, that boosts my confidence.
The overall journey so far with Jeavio has been great.

What is/are your crucial learning (in terms of job/tech skills) in the year?
In the Technical Support world, the main thing is how you communicate with the customer and handle the situation at the given point in time. So I used to go to the sessions that would happen for the ongoing cases with my teammates and learned many things like customer handling and how to communicate and react in particular situations.
I have realized that every day is new learning for me, as there is at least one case or issue overall as of now, which I have seen for the first time.
I have improved a lot with the database(MySQL queries and their implementation to get specific results and outputs as per the requirement).

What have you learned about yourselves?
I have learned a specific thing while working on the support cases, that I need to be more patient while handling the cases as it helps to understand the issue in a better way.
I have improved my communication skills a lot after regular interactions with many different kinds of people, having a different mindset.

What have you achieved in comparison to your expectations?
I have got a lot of knowledge and getting something new every day regarding the network architecture and the workflows, which I was not expecting at first.
I have achieved a great amount of self-confidence during the course of time, which I was not expecting to be at this level within this span of time.

What advice would you give to your younger self or an individual just starting their career?
The advice I can give is to be confident and always be keen to learn new things in this domain and never get low on that because there would be many instances where you would not have any idea of what can be the initial path for solving a problem.

What are the key challenges that you faced?
This is something I would take as learning from one of my cases that I need to check and look into the consequences of the actions taken and take guidance or help from team members whenever we are not sure about anything.
Nothing else seems to be a challenge for now, as it is going nice, and I am getting all the required help and assistance from the whole Jeavio team.

I have grown in many ways while working at Jeavio. Having integrity, being loyal and trustworthy became even more important to me.

I learned whole new technologies used by major projects in the industry like spring boot, Django, MongoDB, PostgreSQL.

What have you learned about yourselves?
First of all, I learned to have a work-life balance which is important. Second, to have a helping attitude towards others as everyone at Jeavio possesses this trait.

What have you achieved in comparison to your expectations?
I joined Jeavio as an intern, and as per my first internship experience, I was worried about not being treated well at the company, but the scenario was totally different over here, and I am grateful for that as I don’t think all the IT firms would do these things well.

What advice would you give to your younger self or an individual just starting their career?
I would definitely recommend oneself to start a career at Jeavio because apart from technical skills, there is much more to learn here about life and ethics.

What are the key challenges that you faced?
When I joined as an intern, I had many difficulties understanding the working of the project I was assigned to. That was a very challenging phase for me as I had to keep up with everyone and give deliverables on time. So I had to do overtime and skip meals for days, but I learned it very well and started giving my best.

How would you describe your overall journey with Jeavio so far?
I am extremely glad for the opportunity to work at Jeavio. It has aided me in reaching new heights by providing me with fresh learning chances and enhancing my inherent skills.
The experiences I’ve gained along the journey are priceless and irreplaceable. Working with people that share my interests allows me to step outside of my comfort zone and expand my knowledge and abilities.

What is/are your crucial learning (in terms of job/tech skills) in the year?
Working at SevOne Support has taught me a lot and given me greater confidence. I was a bit of an introvert, so communicating was challenging for me. But, as time went on, my team and colleagues made me feel more at ease, and I now have the confidence to interact with clients and my team in a professional manner.

What have you learned about yourselves?
I used to be someone who would quickly panic in a difficult situation, but I’ve realized that panicking will not help me solve my problem. As a result, I’ve learned to be calm in stressful situations and not to panic. Being cool in any situation has given me a new sense of self-assurance.

What have you achieved in comparison to your expectations?
Considering the Covid circumstances, I was concerned that I would not receive adequate supervision and instruction, yet the team backed me up so effectively that it exceeded my expectations. In addition, I learned a lot of new stuff, like concepts, points, ideologies, and much more, which I wasn’t expecting.

What advice would you give to your younger self or an individual just starting their career?
One of the most important things I can advise is to stick to the basics and study them first since the basics are everything. Without understanding the fundamentals, one may encounter numerous challenges in the future.

What are the key challenges that you faced?
While I was interning for SevOne support, I thought I might find the management and work quite different and hard, but the guidance I received from the support team was so smooth that I was confident to accomplish my goals.
